Warwick Castle Summer Proms 13th July

Written by on July 10, 2013

castleThis Saturday, Warwick Castle is locking its ghosts, knights and princesses in the dungeons to bring us a magical evening of superb music and incredible entertainment. The Warwick Castle Summer Proms is back for another year on the 13th July and the Castle’s Pageant Field is expected to be packed out with local festival-goers and music-lovers.

The concert will kick-off with a performance by The Overtones. This all-male vocal harmony group was formed three years ago and, since touring with Peter Andre and appearing on television shows such as The X Factor, they are sure to be a big hit with the crowd.

Just as it was last year, the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra will be the main attraction. Being conducted by Jae Alexander, they will perform popular classics, film themes and all the favourites associated with the “Last Night Of The Proms”. RPO has enjoyed over 65 years of success and is now under the inspired leadership of Artistic Director Charles Dutoit. As a lover of classical music myself, I can assure you that the best way to listen to an orchestra as talented as this one is live in concert!

For the part of the evening I am most looking forward to, there will be a special celebration of the incredible music of Les Miserables featuring star performers from the London and International productions. Les Mis is my favourite musical and I cannot wait until Saturday to find out who is performing! After the release of the latest film version of the story earlier this year, I can imagine this particular part of the concert will be thoroughly enjoyed by the majority of the crowd.

To finish off what is already shaping up to be an amazing evening, we will all be stunned by an original WW2 spitfire aerial display followed by fireworks.

I believe this event will be able to once again bring together the Warwickshire community in a celebration of music and become an unforgettable evening.

Tickets are available at http://www.warwick-castle.com/special-event/2/warwick-castle-summer-proms.aspx, where the price is £32; £10 for children (4 – 16 yrs) and free for under 4s. The gates open at 6pm and the concert will begin at 7.30pm and end at 10.15pm.

To make your day even more special (and make the most of this glorious summer weather!) why not buy a day ticket for a visit to Warwick Castle as well for only £5 extra? New for 2013, the Castle presents ‘Warwick Castle UNLOCKED’, inviting the public into secret rooms that are being unlocked for the first time.
