Sound Lounge 21 Festival- 2nd-4th August, Birmingham
Written by katie_grimason on August 1, 2013
Sound Lounge 21 will be taking place right in the heart of Birmingham at the Town Hall & Symphony Hall on the 2nd August until the 4th. The festival centralises around emerging new talent across the city and it’s also a free event, so it’s an excellent opportunity to go and check out new bands and music from around the West Midlands!
As well as providing local bands with recognition it’s a chance for young people to become involved whether its performing or contributing to the festival itself. There is a vibrant mix of music including bands who are of the psychedelic folk/rock genre, soul and jazz and it’s a way in which people can hear something new, fresh and alternative whilst at the same time supporting local talent.
A weekend that is guaranteed to be jam packed, some of the bands and artists who are performing live include: Mourning Suns, Call Me Unique, New Killer Shoes, Friday Club and Lumi HD.
On Wednesday 31st July I met the festival’s marketing and PR team member Omar Khan at the Symphony Hall which was a delight and really interesting because I found out a lot about Sound Lounge 21, how it all started and how he got involved. Click below to hear the interview:
The festival starts on Friday at 7pm and is running until 10:30pm on Sunday 4th August at the Town Hall. It’s worth going to see what up and coming musicians Birmingham has to offer!
