Two bright new organisations in Warwickshire have announced that they will be joining forces: Radio Warwickshire, the new-media broadcasting group has announced that it has formed a community partnership with new arts centre, Leamington LAMP. Radio Warwickshire will now have a recording studio and base at the riverside site which is already well known as a music and live art venue in the town. Radio Warwickshire was created by Station Manager, Liane Kate , former Breakfast Presenter at Kix 96 and Programme Manager of Synergy FM. ‘The group has used the full force of social media, alongside its more traditional broadcasting capabilities, to draw together a powerful network of volunteer presenters, reporters and managers. The group was formed less than a year ago, but has already attracted a great deal of attention by covering not only Midlands’ events, but also a range of national festivals and high profile stages. They recently broadcasted exclusive interviews and live recordings from the rock band, The Levellers, The Overtones, Sean Ward from BBC 1 the Voice and The Fallows from Coventry. The team place regular features on events such as Warwick Castle Proms, and have formed links with Coventry Kasbah, Leamington Assembly and Birmingham Symphony Hall. Radio Warwickshire is already broadcasting regular Music programmes covering Unsigned, Alternative, pop, Indi, Rock and Folk music. The radio stations focus is on supporting talent and creativity and supporting charity events. Radio Warwickshire is currently looking for new presenters and reporters to join the team alongside business sponsors for programmes and features (contact the team on the email below).
Leamington Lamp is a new and lively arts centre off Adelaide Road in Leamington, by the Town’s riverside. Featuring a broad programme of live music, stand-up comedy, arthouse film screenings, networking events, and live art, Lamp has the ambitious mission of creating a platform for innovative, interesting, and exciting original music and live art in any genre. Lamp was set up in March 2013 by Tim Ellis (musician), Pip Burley (writer/musician), and Florence Ellis (circus composer & visual artist), with the ethos that only working artists should manage an arts centre. Creative Director for Radio Warwickshire, Clay Lowe said: “We’ve found real soul mates with Leamington LAMP – there is strong spirit of fun at the venue as well as really sharp professionalism. There are many music venues around Warwickshire – but there is something about LAMP that is bright and fresh.” Programme Manager Pip Burley of Leamington LAMP said: ”LAMP has really come into its own in the first few months; and our programme has expanded more quickly than any of us thought possible! I’m so excited that we created this link to Radio Warwickshire; the ethos of the group fits perfectly with that of LAMP – both organisations are young, full of character, full of ambition – even if we all come across as pleasantly eccentric at times!”
