Matt Palmer’s Millennium Eagle Jazz Band- Birmingham International Jazz and Blues Festival
Written by katie_grimason on July 9, 2013
The 29th Birmingham International Jazz and Blues Festival is well underway, with events taking place all across the city. On Monday 8th July, I had the pleasure to go and check out one of these events which was at The Mall, Sutton Coldfield.
It was such a delight watching Matt Palmer’s Millennium Eagle Jazz Band, a very entertaining quintet who provided a lively display of Jazz music on a beautiful sunny afternoon in Birmingham. There was such a buzz from the two hour set which they performed and it really livened it up the day, as well as putting smiles on the faces of many people including myself! The Jazz scene is new to me so for a first time experience it was exceptional. Not only that but I got talking to some keen Jazz fans about the festival itself, so I definitely want to go to the city centre and attend some of the events there.
Matt and the band played classics such as: You are my Sunshine; Slow Boat to China; Steamboat Stomp, as well as Stranger on the Shore by Acker Bilk. The band are also available for any occasion, providing live music which is to an excellent quality so if you want to find out more about them, go to http://www.mattpalmerjazz.co.uk/ where you will also find contact details.
The online version of the programme is available here: http://www.bigbearmusic.com/images/BIJF2013/programmeforwebsite.pdf so do take a look at what is taking place at the festival!
