Face to Face with the new Doctor Who
Written by Ian Rose on October 1, 2018
On Monday 24th September I had the opportunity to travel to Sheffield to see the new cast of Doctor Who, including the first female Doctor, Jodie Whittaker at the red carpet premiere. Sheffield will feature heavily in the new season and Jodie is from just outside the City so it was an ideal place for the premiere.
Jodie Whittaker will be the 13th Doctor Who, following on from Peter Capaldi. She was joined on the red carpet by her three new travelling companions for this series Mandip Gill, Tosin Cole (see the selfies above) as well as Bradley Walsh.
So much is different for this series and with the writer from Broadchurch, Chris Chibnall, on board for the first time this new season could be too much change for long term Dr Who fans. However this is what Jodie had to say ‘It embraces the old and the new in every episode’. Having been a fan of the show since the second Doctor, Patrick Troughton, that certainly allayed some of my fears.
The new series starts on 7th October and again keeping with being different, this will be on a Sunday for the first time. I’ll be tuned in at 18.45 (BST) and I hope you will be too.
